Teen Thug Jailed for Brutal Drug Robbery
Astro Williams, 19, was locked up for 10 years at Chester Crown Court on Monday, April 4. The Stretford youth pleaded guilty to robbery and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs – heroin and crack cocaine.
Drugs Deal Turns Violent at Victim’s Home
The victim, a 42-year-old woman from Bollington, told police she had been buying illegal drugs for years. On August 2, 2020, she arranged to purchase £100 worth of drugs from a regular dealer. Around 1.45am on August 3, two men arrived to deliver the goods. She let them inside.
When the woman asked to sample the drugs before paying, the pair turned savage. They punched and kicked her as she lay on the floor, even threatening to slit her throat with a knife. Before fleeing, they stole an iPhone, a Fossil watch, and other valuables.
Police Chase Leads to Arrest with Stolen Goods and Drugs
Three days later, police on patrol in Macclesfield spotted Williams, who matched the description of one attacker. He pushed an officer and tried to run off, dropping bags along the way.
Officers arrested him as he left the park and recovered the bags. Inside were 41 wraps of crack cocaine and 46 wraps of heroin worth over £850, plus the stolen Fossil watch.
Evidence Seals His Fate
Williams denied the robbery and claimed the drugs belonged to his cousin. But phone and forensic evidence placed him at the victim’s home during the attack. Faced with the overwhelming proof, he pleaded guilty.
“I welcome the sentence handed to Williams who is clearly a violent individual,” said Detective Constable Sarah Newton from Macclesfield CID.
“The victim did not deserve to be attacked and robbed in such a brutal way. We will continue investigating to bring the second offender to justice.”
Inspector Simon Mills added: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack. The sentence reflects the seriousness of Williams’ actions.”
“Thanks to the hard work of DC Newton and the team, justice has been served.”
