Hope Street Returns: Northern Ireland Crime Drama Back for Series 2
The beloved BBC drama Hope Street is coming back for a second series, much to the delight of fans across the UK and beyond. Set in the fictional coastal town of Port Devine, Northern Ireland, the show blends crime, comedy, and community spirit against stunning seaside backdrops.
Homegrown Talent Shines in Local Crime Drama
Hope Street celebrates Northern Ireland’s rich culture, showcasing local writing, acting, and production talent. Each episode is a gripping, self-contained crime story following the ups and downs of the Port Devine police department as they tackle daily cases in their tight-knit town.
Behind the scenes are TV heavyweights Paul Marquess and Donna Wiffen of Long Story TV, famed for The Bill and 1 Kills. They’re reuniting with co-creator Susanne Farrell (Dirty God) and a stellar writing team including Jessica Lea (EastEnders) and Tess McGowan (Bump Along The Way).

Filming Starts May 2022 – Catch Series 1 on iPlayer
Filming for series two kicks off in May 2022, with new episodes returning to BBC Daytime and BBC One Northern Ireland later this year. The series is part of the ongoing partnership between the BBC and Northern Ireland Screen, boosting the region’s screen industry and putting Northern Ireland firmly on the UK and global TV map.
