Kaya Douggan, 26, currently of Monkshill, Bedfordshire, who had been staying in Swindon when the offences were committed, was sentenced today (19/04) at Swindon Crown Court.
He was sentenced to five years and 11 months in prison after being found guilty of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
Officers from Swindon’s Fortitude team and the Metropolitan Police Service’s Orochi Team had been investigating Douggan as part of their enquiries into the “Ramzy” drugs line.
Last October, as part of a wave of police activity called Operation Accentor, Douggan was stopped in a vehicle on the M2, where he was arrested. Within the vehicle a quantity of suspected Class A drugs were located.
Evidence showed that between September and October 2021, Douggan was using two different mobile phones to send out a total 908 text messages to vulnerable drug users, advertising Class A drugs for sale.
PC Simon Sanghera, from Fortitude, said: “Operation Accentor was co-ordinated police activity which took place back in October and targeted those we believed to be involved in the supply and sale of Class A drugs in Swindon.
“Through our investigation, we were able to evidence that Douggan was in possession of the mobile phones linked with the Ramzy Class A drugs network. This line was responsible for supplying both crack cocaine and heroin to drug users within Swindon. He committed this offence whilst on license for Class A drug supply offences.
“The impact of Class A drug dealing is well known – it causes harm to our communities. Not only through the crimes associated with those who are battling addiction, but also violence, exploitation and anti-social behaviour, which has a huge knock-on impact for those living in the town.
The work of the Fortitude team demonstrates our commitment to cracking down on this criminality and cases like this one highlight our determination to get drug dealers off our streets and ensure they face justice.
