Church Targeted in Kingsdown Break-In
Kent Police were alerted on the morning of Monday 2 May 2022 after St John the Evangelist Church in Kingsdown was broken into overnight. The thieves made off with a distinctive lectern — a prized piece of church furniture.
Partial Lectern Recovered, Police Seek the Iconic Eagle Top
Officers have managed to recover the stand section of the lectern. However, the top part — shaped like a striking eagle — remains missing. Police are urging anyone who has spotted or been offered this unique item to come forward.
Suspect Arrested but Released Under Investigation
On Tuesday 3 May, a 25-year-old man from Dover was arrested on suspicion of burglary linked to the break-in. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
