Bestwood Cops Crack Down on Crime with Fun Community Event

Police and Residents Team Up at Bestwood Park

Nottinghamshire’s Bestwood neighbourhood policing team hit the streets on Wednesday, July 6, turning a local event at Bestwood Park into a community crackdown on crime. Officers mingled with residents, entertained kids, and offered free security marking for mobility scooters.

Freebies and Advice Galore

The event, hosted by Nottingham City Council, gave locals free access to a nearby gym and expert advice on fly-tipping, parking, and vehicle checks. Police also tackled local concerns, aiming to make Bestwood safer and residents feel heard.

Security Marking Goes Beyond the Event

Can’t make it? No problem. Officers took down addresses of mobility scooter owners who missed out and arranged free home visits to security mark their scooters. Four scooters were marked onsite, helping police identify stolen vehicles more easily.

Community Matters More Than Crime Busting

“Being a police officer is more than just making arrests. It’s about engaging with the community, working with young people, and listening to residents’ concerns,” said Sergeant Katie Taylor.

“Events like this are vital – we get to offer advice, mark scooters, and simply be there for the people of Bestwood.”

The event was a hit and could be the first of many. Locals eager for free scooter security, a chance to chat with officers, or get the kids involved in games should watch this space for the next get-together.
