Firefighters Tackle Blaze at Derelict Building in Northfleet – UKNIP

Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to an emergency call reporting a fire at a derelict building located on High Street in Northfleet, Gravesend. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

Upon receiving the call, eight fire engines, including specialised vehicles such as a height vehicle and a bulk water carrier, were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus swiftly tackled the blaze using both hose reel jets and main jets. The technical rescue unit was also present to provide additional support.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the source of the blaze.

The derelict nature of the building raises concerns about potential hazards and risks associated with such structures. Kent Fire and Rescue Service urges the public to exercise caution around abandoned or unused buildings, as they can pose significant dangers.

Local residents and businesses are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or potential fire hazards to the relevant authorities. Prompt reporting can help prevent incidents like this and ensure the safety of the community.

Further updates regarding the investigation and any potential developments will be provided as they become available.
