Manhunt Launched for Wanted Suspect in Islington Double Murder Case – UKNIP

Detectives have issued an urgent appeal to the public for assistance in locating Lorik Lupqi, a 19-year-old man wanted in connection with a double murder in Islington. Lupqi, who is from the Archway area and has links to parts of east and south-west London, is being sought following the fatal stabbing of Leonardo Reid, 15, and Klevi Shekaj, 23, on the evening of Thursday, 29 June, in the Elthorne Road area.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Lupqi’s whereabouts to immediately contact the police by dialling 999 and quoting CAD 9383/29Jun. It is emphasized that Lupqi should not be approached under any circumstances.

Special post-mortem examinations have confirmed that both victims died as a result of stab wounds to the chest. The families of Leonardo Reid and Klevi Shekaj are receiving ongoing support from officers belonging to the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command.

A third man, aged 28, was also stabbed during the attack and was subsequently taken to the hospital. Thankfully, his injuries were assessed as not life-threatening.

Three individuals have already been charged as part of the investigation and are currently in custody awaiting trial, scheduled for May 2024.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood, leading the investigation, described the search for Lorik Lupqi as a significant development in the case. He urged members of the public to come forward with any information they may have regarding Lupqi’s whereabouts, highlighting the importance of supporting the grieving families affected by this tragic incident.

Several weeks have passed since the crime occurred, and authorities believe that there are individuals who possess knowledge about Lupqi’s location. Detective Chief Inspector Eastwood implored those with information to do the right thing and contact the police immediately.

If individuals wish to remain anonymous, they can provide information to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111. Callers to Crimestoppers can rest assured that their identities will be protected and they will not be required to disclose their names.
