Fresh Hope in Ryan Passey Nightclub Stabbing Case
Detectives are reigniting the hunt for justice in the tragic stabbing death of Ryan Passey. The 24-year-old was fatally stabbed inside Chicago’s nightclub in Stourbridge back in August 2017, after a local football match. Despite rushing Ryan to hospital, he sadly died from a single stab wound to the chest.
Failed Murder Trial Left Family Devastated
A 19-year-old was charged with Ryan’s murder, but a jury cleared him in February 2018. This crushing verdict left Ryan’s family and friends desperate for answers.
Cold Case Review Sparks Re-Investigation
Last year, West Yorkshire Police conducted an independent review of the original investigation and trial. Their report, handed over last month, contained 18 key recommendations. West Midlands Police’s homicide unit has now launched a full re-investigation into Ryan’s death.
Det Supt Shaun Edwards said: “We are committed to following up on all recommendations and will work closely with Ryan’s family throughout this process.”
Family Pleads for New Witnesses
Ryan’s family has welcomed the renewed probe and is calling on anyone with information—no matter how small or old—to come forward. They hope the fresh investigation finally delivers long-awaited closure.
