Six Arrested After Midnight Brawl in Nottingham – Three Cops Hurt
A row erupted on Talbot Street, Nottingham, shortly before 3am on Friday 30 December, ending with six men in custody and three police officers injured. Response officers spotted an early altercation between two groups and stepped in to separate them. No arrests were made at first as no laws were broken – but trouble soon blew up again.
Violent Clash Breaks Out
The fight quickly escalated, forcing officers to intervene again. They managed to break it up but not before three policemen suffered injuries. One officer was clawed at, leaving a minor facial wound, another was shoved in the face, and a third was kicked in the heat of the scuffle.
Six Men Taken Down
- An 18-year-old was detained on suspicion of affray and assaulting an emergency worker.
- A 19-year-old faces charges of affray, possession of a class B drug, and two counts of assaulting emergency personnel.
- A second 19-year-old was arrested for affray and possession of a class A drug.
- A 20-year-old was also held on suspicion of affray.
CCTV enquiries led to two of the six suspects being released without charge.
Police Vow Tough Action
“This was a totally unacceptable incident and officers did well to quickly bring the disorder under control,” said Sergeant Steve Willetts from Nottinghamshire Police.
“We are frustrated to report a number of officers were assaulted while performing their duties. This will not be tolerated. We will take robust action against anyone responsible for violent disorder or drug offences.”
“Our inquiries into this incident are ongoing and we urge anyone with information to come forward.”
