Paedophile Anthony Plummer Sentenced to 30 Years for Decades of Abuse

A vile Buckland paedophile who terrorised young girls for over 30 years has finally been locked up for good. Anthony Plummer, 71, received a 30-year prison sentence on Friday after being found guilty at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Brutal Crimes Spanning Decades

Plummer’s reign of horror stretched from 1978 to 1984, then again between 2006 and 2008. He sexually abused four girls aged between 9 and 17 during this time. The depraved predator was convicted of 13 offences including rape, attempted rape, indecent assault, sexual assault, and multiple counts of child penetration.

One victim tragically died before seeing justice served, but her evidence was still used thanks to special legal provisions.

Victims Speak Out Against the Monster

At court, brave survivors recounted the lifelong impact of Plummer’s sickening crimes.

“You had no right to take my innocence,” one tearful victim declared. “Your actions affected my whole life. As a child I blamed myself for not stopping you. Later in life I understood it was you taking advantage of a child.”

Another victim revealed, “I wondered why it happened. The enormity of it broke me. I thought there was something wrong with me so I said nothing. I still have nightmares. It ruined my life.”

Judge Calls Plummer a Dangerous, Remorseless Predator

Judge David Melville QC described Plummer as a “remorseless sexual predator” who normalised his horrific crimes. “There is no doubting you are a dangerous person,” he said. “There is a risk you will harm any young girl you come across.”

The judge imposed a 30-year sentence, including a two-year extension, reflecting Plummer’s long history of abuse.

CPS Praises Victims’ Courage

Tracy Harris, senior Crown prosecutor, said, “Plummer manipulated his victims, keeping them terrified into silence. One victim sadly died before justice, but her evidence helped secure this conviction. I pay tribute to the courage of all involved. I hope this sentence brings them some comfort.”
