Damar Hamlin Remains in Critical Condition After On-Field Collapse
Buffalo Bills Update on Hamlin’s Health
Damar Hamlin spent the night in the intensive care unit and remains in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, the Buffalo Bills confirmed. “We are grateful for the outpouring of support that we have received thus far,” the team tweeted.
Family Thanks Fans and Medical Staff
Hamlin’s family expressed “sincere gratitude for the love and support” during this tough time. They also thanked Cincinnati’s first responders and hospital staff for their care. “We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans across the country,” they said.
Heart-Stopping Incident on the Field
The 24-year-old defensive back collapsed after a collision during Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. After tackling Bengals receiver Tee Higgins, Hamlin briefly got up, adjusted his helmet, then suddenly fell backwards and lay motionless.
The Bills revealed his heart had stopped but was successfully restarted on the field by medical personnel after around 10 minutes of CPR. His football shirt was reportedly cut off, and he was given oxygen before being rushed for emergency care.
Praise for Medical Heroes
“We want to recognise the dedicated first responders and healthcare professionals at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center who have provided exceptional care to Damar,” Hamlin’s family added. “We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to be a part of the Buffalo Bills organisation and to have their support.”
