Explosion Rocks Hove Block of Flats, One Injured
Fire crews from East and West Sussex rushed to a block of flats on The Drive in Hove after locals reported a loud explosion just before 8pm.
The blast cut power to the surrounding area, leaving residents in darkness.
Fire Started in Basement Electrical Room
The explosion is believed to have originated in an electrical intake room located in the basement of the building.
Firefighters Battle Blaze with Foam and Breathing Apparatus
A spokesperson for East Sussex Fire confirmed: “We were called to reports of a domestic dwelling fire on The Drive, Hove at 19:44. Seven Pumps, one Ariel Ladder Platform and five Officers were in attendance. Crews used two breathing apparatus, firefighting foam and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire was accidental. One casualty was reported.”
One person was injured and has been taken into the care of SECamb.
