Burglary Bandit Busted: Dossett Locked Up for Smashing Spree
Steven Dossett, 37, from Basingstoke, has been slammed behind bars after pleading guilty to two burglaries. Winchester Crown Court handed him a hefty 876-day sentence on Friday, 17 March.
Smash and Grab Nightmare on Magnus Drive and Sandbanks Drive
On 21 November 2022, Dossett smashed a patio door on Magnus Drive and nicked high-value gaming consoles, controllers, and games. Later that day, another victim on Sandbanks Drive returned home to find their patio door shattered and a watch stolen.
DNA Evidence Nails Dossett
Forensics quickly linked Dossett to both break-ins through DNA found at the scenes, sealing his fate.
Detective Warns Public: Report Suspicious Behaviour
“Now Dossett has been jailed he is no longer able to cause misery to people by breaking into their homes and stealing their possessions,” said Detective Constable Matt McCarthy from the Northern CID’s Operation Hawk Team.
“Our burglary team works tirelessly to catch offenders and bring them to justice. We hope this conviction reassures the community and encourages anyone affected by these crimes to report them.
“We also urge the public to flag any suspicious behaviour or individuals. Your tips help police target their efforts and prevent these crimes from happening in your neighbourhood.”
The investigation was led by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary’s dedicated burglary squad, Operation Hawk.
