Bricklayer Shaun Kent’s four-year reign of terror over victim Darcy exposed
Relentless control and abuse
Shaun Kent, 31, from Sandhurst Road, Brighton, subjected 23-year-old Darcy to four years of relentless abuse. Kent controlled her life with ruthless psychological and physical attacks, leaving her trapped and terrified.
Dark tactics to isolate and intimidate
The bricklayer deleted Darcy’s social media accounts and turned up unannounced at events, often behaving violently. Shockingly, some visits happened at secret locations Darcy hadn’t told him about – showing Kent was stalking her movements. When not physically present, he bombarded her with relentless texts and calls.
Breaking bail to continue the torment
Kent was originally arrested in 2019 but broke bail conditions by impersonating a male friend of Darcy’s to try to get her to drop his charges. He even set up a meeting, only for Darcy to discover it was Kent waiting for her in his car.
Facing serious charges at Lewes Crown Court
Kent now faces multiple charges including coercive and controlling behaviour, actual bodily harm, intimidating a witness, sexual assault, and assault by beating. The case was heard at Lewes Crown Court last Friday, highlighting the justice system’s crackdown on domestic abuse offenders.
