Man Killed and Another Injured After Van Hits Them Outside Bay Horse Pub
Tragedy struck at around 10pm last Saturday outside the Bay Horse on Sanderson Terrace. Police rushed to the scene after reports that two men had been hit by a van.
Despite paramedics’ desperate efforts, Sheldon Flanighan from Northumberland sadly died at the scene. The second victim was rushed to hospital and remains in a stable condition.
Three Arrested and Charged with Murder
An investigation quickly followed. Police arrested three people connected to the crash. All have now been charged with Sheldon’s murder and the attempted murder of the second man:
- Toby Kelly, 37, of Wansbeck Avenue, Blyth. Kelly faces an additional charge for failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
- David Fairclough, 32, of Emerson Road, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea.
- Shannon Wooden, 27, of Blyth.
They appeared at Bedlington Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
Police Appeal for Information
Northumbria Police released a statement:
“We will be carrying out further enquiries in the Cramlington area today and ask anyone with concerns or information to get in touch.
“Our thoughts remain with the families affected by this tragic incident. We ask for their privacy at this difficult time.
“We have charged three people and are working hard to piece together what happened in the crucial moments before and after the incident.
“While investigations continue, we urge the public to avoid speculation on social media and encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
