Huge Hotel Blaze Rips Through Midhurst

Firefighters raced to a major roof fire at a hotel on North Street, Midhurst, in the early hours of Thursday, 16 March. The blaze quickly spread to nearby buildings, sparking a dangerous situation.

Massive Fire Response Deployed

At 1:08am, emergency services were called to tackle the inferno. Joint Fire Control sent 15 fire engines, two aerial ladders, water carriers, an off-road vehicle, and a high-volume pump. On arrival, crews faced intense flames engulfing the hotel’s roof.

Firefighters are battling to contain the fire and expect to be on the scene for hours.

Evacuations and Safety Warnings

  • More than 30 people were safely evacuated from the hotel and nearby properties.
  • A relief centre has been established in Midhurst to help those displaced by the blaze.
  • Locals are urged to keep doors and windows closed due to a large plume of smoke.
