Body Found in Barking Linked to Missing Man

Police hunting for 62-year-old Dennis Farnell made a grim discovery on Saturday morning. Around 11am on 28 December, officers found the body of a man in John Sayer Close, Barking. Although formal ID is pending, cops believe it is Mr Farnell.

Family Informed as Post-Mortem Underway

Mr Farnell’s next-of-kin have been notified and are receiving support from specialist officers. A post-mortem was carried out at Queen’s Hospital on Sunday, 29 December, as police await further test results.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Multiple Arrests Made in Connected Investigation

Detectives from the East Area CID are probing the case. Several arrests have already been made. On 24 December, a 53-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were detained on suspicion of robbery and kidnap. Both have now been released under investigation.

Additionally, a 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were arrested the same day on kidnap suspicion. They have been bailed to return in late January.

Enquiries are ongoing as police work to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of Dennis Farnell.
