Salon Boss Locked Up for Sex Attacks on Teen Apprentices
Alan Luckhurst, 36, from Worcester Park, Surrey, has been found guilty of sexual assault against two 17-year-old girls who worked under him. The Kingston Crown Court handed down the verdict on 26 January 2023.
Six-Month Jail Sentence Suspended, Tough Restrictions Imposed
On 27 March 2023, Luckhurst was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months. He also received a sexual harm prevention order banning him from managing or employing anyone under 18.
Multiple Victims Speak Out from Hair Salons in Twickenham and Kingston
- In 2017, a 17-year-old accused Luckhurst of sexual assault during a work placement in a Twickenham hair salon.
- Despite being arrested and charged, Luckhurst opened his own salon in Kingston while on court bail.
- In 2021, another 17-year-old apprentice reported similar abuse just weeks after starting with Luckhurst’s business.
Detective Slams ‘Predatory’ Behaviour and Calls for More Victims to Come Forward
Detective Constable Natalie Alchin said: “Luckhurst completely abused his position as manager of these young women and took advantage of being alone with them during their time at work.”
“The offences have had serious impacts on their personal and professional lives. The victims showed tremendous bravery coming forward and giving evidence.”
