Arrests Made In Investigation Of Max Moy Wheatley’s Murder In Petts Wood

Detectives investigating the tragic murder of Max Moy Wheatley in Petts Wood have charged two individuals. Billy Jay Benton, 18, of Playgreen Way, uk/where/bellingham/">Bellingham, SE6, faces charges of murder and possession of an offensive weapon. Arvie-Ray Mehmet, 19, of Arnulf Street, Bellingham, SE6, has been charged with murder.

The charges were brought on Saturday, 30 September, following the arrest of both men on Friday, 29 September. They are scheduled to appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 2 October.

Max’s family has been informed of this development, and they continue to receive support from specialist officers. The investigation began when the police were called by the london" title="London" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="40947">London Ambulance Service around 14:30 BST on Wednesday, 20 September, following reports of a man stabbed in Jubilee Country Park near Tent Peg Lane in Petts Wood.

Despite the efforts of officers and the Kent Air Ambulance, Max, hailing from the Orpington area, tragically lost his life at the scene. A post-mortem examination conducted on Friday, 22 September, revealed the cause of death as a stab wound to the heart.
