Man Jailed for Reckless Arson at Penhill Home

Adam Ramsey, 35, from Downton Road, Penhill, has been locked up for over three years after setting fire to his own home. Ramsey pleaded guilty to arson with recklessness as to whether lives were endangered.

Fire Set While Phone Call Ongoing

On July 21, Ramsey doused the carpet in fuel while on the phone to his partner, then sparked the blaze. Luckily, no one else was in the house when the fire started.

Swift Police and Fire Service Response

Thanks to a witness who spotted Ramsey fleeing and called the cops, he was arrested that same evening. The fire service quickly stopped the flames from spreading to neighbouring homes, preventing a potential disaster.

Dangerous Act Leaves Home Uninhabitable

Detective Constable Victoria Barker from swindon/" title="Swindon" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Swindon CID said: “Ramsey’s actions were incredibly dangerous. It’s fortunate the fire didn’t spread and threaten nearby properties. The damage left the property uninhabitable, forcing residents out.”

She added: “I commend the fire service for their swift work and the public for providing crucial information. Ramsey pleaded guilty at the earliest chance and now faces jail time to reflect on his reckless crime.”
