Woman’s bravery leads to jail for violent stalker

Police have hailed a woman’s courage after she reported horrific assaults and stalking that left her mentally scarred.

Stalker terrorises victim with violent attacks and threats

In May, 29-year-old Ashley Jefferson caused chaos at the woman’s home. He smashed property, assaulted her, and followed her, leaving her living in fear. The victim immediately contacted police and backed the investigation every step of the way.

Judge slams Jefferson’s “disgusting” behaviour

Jefferson faced multiple charges: two assaults, theft of a meat cleaver, three counts of criminal damage, and stalking with fear of violence. He pleaded guilty at Teesside Crown Court.

The judge didn’t hold back, labelling Jefferson’s actions “disgusting” before slapping him with a three-year jail sentence. An indefinite restraining order bars him from contacting the victim ever again.

Police thanks victim’s courage and urges others to come forward

“I’d like to thank the victim for showing immense courage and strength in this case, for coming forward to report to police in the first place and for being willing to attend court,” said PC Ashley Jones.

“She was spared the ordeal of a trial after Jefferson pleaded guilty. To anyone suffering abuse, we are here to support you and fight for justice,” the officer added.
