Community in shock after fatal collision
The close-knit village of Draycott-in-the-Moors, Staffordshire, is reeling after Charalambos Nicolaou, 62, from Cyprus, died in a horrific crash on Christmas Eve. The smash happened at around 8:45pm on Uttoxeter Road involving a Vauxhall Vectra and a Hyundai.
The tragedy has left family and friends devastated as they mourn their beloved Charalambos.
Family pleads for witnesses to come forward
Charalambos’ family have appealed urgently for anyone who saw the collision or who may have camera footage to help bring justice. “My dad did not deserve to leave this world this way,” a relative said. “If anyone has any information, please contact the police.”
Man charged with multiple serious offences
Mark Plimmer, 27, from Blythe Bridge, now faces a string of charges linked to the crash. He is accused of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance, not holding a valid licence, refusing to provide a specimen for analysis, plus two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Plimmer is due at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on January 29 to answer these charges.
