Important Alert for Dog Walkers: Pollution Warning on Brighton Seafront

Leave No Trace Brighton recently issued an important alert for dog walkers on Brighton seafront.

They said there has been an incident involving pollution washed up on the beach in Brighton, particularly between Brunswick Square and The Meeting Place. This pollution, potentially a mixture of substances like palm oil, diesel, or other chemicals, has already caused serious illness in two dogs that consumed it.

The dogs are currently receiving veterinary care.

The substance is noted for having a strong tar or chemical odour in the dogs’ vomit and is under investigation by the Animal Poison Line. Dog owners, especially those with pets prone to scavenging, are advised to avoid these beach areas for the time being.
