A tragic incident occurred on the A27 in the early hours of the morning, resulting in the death of a man and injuries to two others. The crash took place when a grey BMW travelling eastbound between Falmer and Lewes crashed shortly before 3 a.m.

The driver, a 24-year-old man from Seaford, tragically lost his life in the collision. Two passengers, a 24-year-old man, and a 19-year-old man, both from Seaford, sustained serious and minor injuries, respectively. They were rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

Following the accident, the A27 was closed in both directions for nearly 12 hours between Falmer and Lewes while forensic teams conducted their investigation. However, the road has since been reopened to traffic.

The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation. Sussex Police have urged anyone with information, particularly those who may have seen the vehicle in the area around the time of the accident or have relevant mobile, dashcam, or CCTV footage, to come forward. They can contact the police via email at [email protected], quoting Operation Romsley.

The closure of the A27 resulted in severe traffic disruptions in the surrounding region, with motorists facing significant delays and diversions as they sought alternative routes.

Sussex Police expressed gratitude to the public for their patience and understanding during the road closure.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to gather all available information to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
