High-Speed Police Chase Ends in Ambulance Smash on M2
A daring police chase took a nasty turn when a driver refusing to stop rammed an ambulance on the M2 near junction 1.
Driver Flees After Dangerous Pursuit
The drama unfolded just before 9pm on Friday, 29 August. Patrol officers tried to pull over a blue Volkswagen Golf suspected of reckless driving on the coastbound carriageway near junction 3. Instead of stopping, the driver sped off, exiting at junction 4 (A278 Hoath Way).
Police gave chase, but moments later, the Golf crashed into an ambulance at a nearby roundabout.
Ambulance Crew Injured in Collision
Emergency teams rushed to the scene where two female ambulance workers were hurt. Both were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The ambulance wasn’t carrying a patient at the time; it was en route for a hospital transfer.
Suspects Arrested After Foot Chase
The driver fled on foot but was soon caught. Police detained two men and a teenage boy nearby. All remain under arrest, facing charges including causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
