Kimberley Ann Hawkins faces death charge
Kimberley Ann Hawkins, 41, has been hit with a charge over the tragic death of 63-year-old Neil Shadwick. The Parkinson’s sufferer died after his mobility scooter was stolen from him in a Gloucestershire Tesco car park back in January 2023.
Chilling discovery in freezing Stroud
Mr Shadwick was found unresponsive by Tesco staff at around 6am on Stratford Road, Stroud. Temperatures had plunged to a biting minus four degrees. Despite emergency efforts, he later died from a stroke at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
Stolen scooter found abandoned
The mobility scooter was reportedly stolen during the incident and later found abandoned on Bisley Old Road in Stroud. Hawkins was previously charged with aggravated vehicle taking related to the same case at Gloucester Crown Court.
Community demands justice
Gloucestershire Police confirmed Hawkins will appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on May 15. The case has rocked the local community, highlighting the vulnerability of those reliant on mobility aids.
“The family and friends of Neil Shadwick are seeking answers and justice,” police said. “This has been a devastating loss.”
