Woman Charged with Killing Parkinson’s Sufferer After Mobility Scooter Theft

A woman has been charged with the killing of Neil Shadwick, a 63-year-old Parkinson’s sufferer, who tragically died after his mobility scooter was stolen from him in a Tesco car park in Gloucestershire.

Kimberley Ann Hawkins, 41, is accused of the crime, alleged to have occurred on January 22 last year in Gloucestershire.

Mr Shadwick was discovered unresponsive by a store staff member at the Tesco on Stratford Road, Stroud, at approximately 6 a.m. The chilling discovery took place amidst harsh weather conditions, with the temperature plummeting to minus four degrees at the time he was found.

Despite efforts to save him, Mr Shadwick passed away the same day after suffering a stroke at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

The tragedy unfolded after Mr Shadwick’s mobility scooter was reportedly stolen from him in the Tesco car park. The scooter was later found abandoned on Bisley Old Road in Stroud.

Hawkins, who was last year charged with aggravated vehicle taking at Gloucester Crown Court, is now facing the grave accusation of causing Mr Shadwick’s death.

Gloucestershire Police have confirmed that Hawkins is expected to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on May 15.
