Officers from Essex Police were first called to a location outside Vange Riverview Centre in Basildon shortly before 6pm, on Saturday 4 May, following reports of a man who had been seriously assaulted.
The victim was taken to hospital with a head injury, where he remains in a critical condition.
Now, 33-year-old Codey Nolan of River View in Basildon is charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and offering to supply Class A drugs.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ court on Monday 13 May.
