Seven Men Found Guilty in Rotherham Grooming Horror

Seven men have been convicted for sexually abusing two girls over five years in Rotherham’s notorious grooming scandal. The victims, aged just 11 and 15 when the abuse began, suffered horrendous trauma at the hands of their attackers between 2003 and 2008.

Exploitation and Sickening Abuse

The vile gang, including Mohammed Amar, Mohammed Siyab, Yasser Ajaib, Mohammed Zameer Sadiq, Abid Saddiq, Tahir Yassin, and Ramin Bari, preyed on vulnerable young girls. They lured them with cigarettes, alcohol, cannabis, and cash before subjecting them to brutal sexual assaults and rape.

The attacks took place across Rotherham—in parks, supermarket car parks, cemeteries, and even behind a children’s nursery. In one shocking incident, a girl was taken to a hotel and raped by two men. On another occasion, the same victim was locked inside a home, raped repeatedly, before managing to escape through a window.

Operation Stovewood Exposes the Horror

The gang was finally brought to justice through Operation Stovewood—a major National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation into child sexual abuse in Rotherham from 1997 to 2013. The trial revealed harrowing testimonies from the survivors, exposing the full scale of the cruelty.

Justice Finally Served

Zoe Becker from the Crown Prosecution Service said the men “knowingly exploited vulnerable girls, grooming them for sexual exploitation.” Their convictions bring the total guilty verdicts linked to Operation Stovewood to 33, part of the largest investigation of its kind in the UK, identifying over 1,150 potential victims.

NCA senior investigator Stuart Cobb praised the bravery of the victims for speaking out, saying, “Justice has finally been served. The attackers’ cruel and manipulative actions have been condemned.”

The seven men are set to be sentenced on September 12 and 13. Notably, Abid Saddiq, already serving a 20-year sentence for other sexual offences, will face further punishment. This landmark case delivers long-overdue justice for the victims of Rotherham’s dark grooming scandal.
