Fire Breaks Out Near East Bramble Buoy
A 35-foot motor cruiser caught fire on Thursday, sending a man and woman onboard into panic. The blaze, believed to be electrical, broke out south of East Bramble Buoy, triggering an urgent call for help.
Lifeboat Crew Dashes to the Rescue
The Cowes RNLI lifeboat launched at 10:35 AM and raced to the scene. By the time they arrived, the quick-thinking crew aboard the cruiser had already put out the fire using two onboard extinguishers.
Safe Tow Back to Cowes
With the cruiser’s engine damaged, the lifeboat crew boarded for safety checks before towing the stricken vessel back to Trinity Landing in Cowes. There, Island firemen and Needles coastguards stood by to provide further help.
Quick Action Prevents Disaster
The combined efforts of the cruiser’s crew and Cowes RNLI ensured no serious injuries or damage occurred. The lifeboat returned to base just over an hour later, having secured the vessel and safeguarded those onboard.
This rapid response stopped a potential Solent disaster in its tracks, proving once again the vital role of the RNLI and emergency services.
