Community Mourns, Police Hunt Killer

“A great man and work colleague lost to knife crime last night. A true gentleman at work and always smiling. Derick RIP. When will this stop? How many people must we lose before something is done?”

Thomas’ family has been informed. No arrests have been made, and an investigation is underway. A post-mortem will take place in due course.

Stoke Newington Common remains closed. Roads between Rectory Road and Northwold Road are blocked. Bus routes 73, 106, 276, 292, and UL69 have been diverted.

Police Vow to Catch Murderer

Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway of Hackney and Tower Hamlets said: “I understand the shock and concern this incident will cause, especially after the recent murder of Pharrell Garcia in the borough last week. Our team is working tirelessly to find whoever is responsible for this violent act.”

He added there is no link between the two murders. “A person has been charged with Pharrell’s murder and is awaiting trial.”
