A man in his 30s sparked major disruption on Southeastern rail services today after trespassing on the tracks near Barnehurst station. Police swooped in just before 4pm, leading to delays and cancellations that threw thousands of commuters into chaos.

Officers were called to the scene around 3:49pm following reports of a trespasser on the railway line. Authorities temporarily cut power to the tracks while dealing with the incident, causing a 30-minute suspension of train services through Barnehurst. Southeastern confirmed lines between Bexleyheath and Barnehurst were particularly affected.

Police Confirm Arrest on Suspicion of Trespass and Theft

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended following reports of a trespasser on the tracks near Barnehurst railway station. A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of trespass and theft.”

Southeastern stressed the line has now reopened and advised passengers experiencing delays over 15 minutes to claim Delay Repay compensation on their website.
