Four Men Charged with Drugs Offences After Fishing Boat Seized with One Tonne of Cocaine Off Cornwall Coast

Four men have been charged with drug offences after Border Force officers intercepted a fishing boat carrying approximately one tonne of cocaine off the coast of Newquay, Cornwall. The vessel was stopped on 13 September 2024 as part of a joint operation, with the National Crime Agency (NCA) leading the investigation.

The men aboard the vessel were identified as Michael Kelly, 45, from Manchester; Jon Paul Williams, 46, from Swansea; Patrick Godfrey, 30, from Swansea; and Jake Marchant, 26, of no fixed address. All four have been charged with the importation of a controlled Class A drug.

The suspects have been remanded in custody and are set to appear at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court today, 16 September 2024.

The investigation is ongoing as the authorities continue to combat drug smuggling operations in the UK.
