Hastings Woman Locked Up for Shocking Knife and Bleach Attack
Brutal Assault at Home
Marlena Meczynska-Shiibashi, 38, from Hastings, has been slammed with a seven-year prison sentence after a vicious attack on a man she knew. In a horrific March 4, 2023 incident, the victim was stabbed multiple times and had bleach poured into his eyes while trying to sleep.
She grabbed a kitchen knife and bathroom bleach in a brutal rampage. When police arrived, she chillingly admitted, “I didn’t just stab him in the leg you know, I poured bleach in his eyes.”
Victim Left Traumatized
The victim is still haunted by the assault, suffering flashbacks, anxiety, and depression. Despite Meczynska-Shiibashi’s claims that the victim’s behaviour provoked her, a thorough investigation found no proof to back that up.
Justice Served at Lewes Crown Court
On September 13, the court sentenced her after she admitted to causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Detective Constable Sally Coleman said:
“This was a violent and distressing case for the victim, who is still dealing with the impact and consequences. The court found that Meczynska-Shiibashi was angry with the victim and carried out an unprovoked attack.”
She added: “We are pleased that a dangerous offender is now in prison serving a significant sentence.”
Sentence and Licence Conditions
Meczynska-Shiibashi, formerly of Mount Pleasant Road, Hastings, must serve at least two-thirds of her sentence before parole can be considered. After release, she will remain on licence for four years due to the ongoing danger she poses to the public.
