The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation after the words “Jail Starmer” were spray-painted on the office window of Labour MP Clive Efford. The vandalism occurred at the south-east London office of the Eltham and Chislehurst MP on Friday.
Images shared by Sky News show the large white graffiti prominently displayed on the window of Efford’s office on Westmount Road, SE9. The message, seemingly targeting Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, has prompted concerns about political intimidation.
The incident was reported to the police on Saturday, 21 September, when an allegation of criminal damage was made. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed: “On Saturday, 21 September, police received an allegation of criminal damage to an office building in Westmount Road, SE9. Graffiti had been daubed on the premises the previous day.”
The police are now conducting inquiries as part of the investigation. No arrests have been made yet, and authorities are appealing for information that could lead to the identification of the culprit.
This act of vandalism adds to a growing trend of targeted attacks on MPs and political offices across the UK, raising concerns about the safety and security of public officials. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the police.
