Man, 55, Arrested After Woman Walking Dog Brutally Attacked in Suffolk
Horrific Morning Attack in Brantham
A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the brutal assault of a woman walking her dog in Brantham, Suffolk. The suspect was detained in Ipswich and remains in police custody as detectives dig deeper into the case.
Victim Found with Serious Injuries
Tragedy struck on the morning of July 24 when 57-year-old Anita Rose, a mother of six, went out early to walk her springer spaniel, Bruce. At around 6:25am, a passing cyclist found her unconscious on a track near Rectory Lane, close to the sewage works and railway line. She had suffered severe head injuries.
Despite being rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, Anita died four days later, leaving her family devastated.
Police Launch Murder Probe and Public Appeal
Suffolk Police are treating the attack as murder. New CCTV footage released shows Anita just an hour before the assault, as officers hunt for witnesses or vital clues.
A police spokesperson said, “We are continuing our inquiries and appreciate the public’s support. Specialist officers are assisting Ms. Rose’s family and keeping them updated on the investigation.”
The force has cordoned off two further areas as they pursue crucial evidence.
£20,000 Reward Offered for Information
Crimestoppers has stepped in with a £20,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. They urge the public to come forward anonymously.
Thankfully, Bruce, Anita’s beloved dog, was unharmed and found with her at the scene.
