Two Men Charged Following Series of Keyless Vehicle Thefts Across Kent

Two men have been charged in connection with a spate of keyless vehicle thefts across Kent, following a targeted investigation by Kent Police.

The investigation began after reports of a vehicle theft outside a property in Whitstable on September 24, 2024. The stolen car was later found in Canterbury. Additional incidents were reported involving vehicles taken from residential areas in Whitstable between September 24 and 25, as well as from a property in Rochester on September 26.

Kent Police executed two search warrants on November 7 in Grays, Essex, resulting in the arrest of two suspects. During the searches, officers seized blank car keys, tools, electronic devices, multiple mobile phones, cash, and a quantity of cannabis.

The suspects, Tomas Chaleckas, 44, of Porter Close, Grays, and Gytis Maslinas, 35, of Hathaway Road, Grays, have been charged with conspiracy to steal motor vehicles, possession of criminal property, and possession of a class B drug.

Mr. Chaleckas was remanded to appear at West Kent Magistrates’ Court on November 8, while Mr. Maslinas was scheduled to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on the same day.
