Two People Found Dead in Landing Gear of JetBlue Plane in Florida

Authorities are investigating after two people were found dead in the landing gear compartment of a JetBlue aircraft that landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida.

The discovery was made on Monday evening during a routine post-flight maintenance inspection after the plane arrived from JFK Airport in New York.

Investigation Underway

The Broward Sheriff’s Office and medical examiners arrived at the scene as officials launched an investigation into how the individuals gained access to the aircraft.

A spokesperson for JetBlue stated:

“On Monday evening, January 6, at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, two individuals were found in the landing gear compartment of one of our aircraft during the routine post-flight maintenance inspection.”

“Tragically, both individuals were deceased. At this time, the identities of the individuals and the circumstances surrounding how they accessed the aircraft remain under investigation.”

“This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are committed to working closely with authorities to support their efforts to understand how this occurred.”

Flight Details

The JetBlue aircraft, operating flight 1801, departed JFK Airport on Monday just before 8:00 PM and landed in Fort Lauderdale approximately three hours later. It remains unclear exactly when the bodies were discovered.

Authorities have not released any further information regarding the identities of the deceased.
