Two Sexual Predators Locked Up After Major Thames Valley Police Probe
Two vile sex offenders have been slammed with hefty prison sentences following a tough crackdown on child abuse in Newbury. Thames Valley Police’s lengthy investigation ended with justice at Reading Crown Court, a crucial win in the fight against crimes targeting minors.
Prison Terms: Nine and Four Years
Adam Hastings, 28, was hit with nine years behind bars. His accomplice, 29-year-old Reece Upton, got four years. Both men, who had no fixed home, are also slapped with Sexual Harm Prevention Orders to keep them in check after release.
Cat and Mouse Police Chase
Detective Constable Cerys Sumpter revealed the pair dodged cops for nearly two weeks before finally being nabbed. The shocking abuse targeted a teenage boy and happened between April and June last year.
Guilty Pleas Seal Their Fate
On November 19, both Hastings and Upton pleaded guilty at the second day of their trial:
- Hastings admitted five counts of sexual activity with a child and two breaches of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
- Upton pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child.
