A major investigation has been launched after a Lime bike rider was hit by a vehicle and dragged down Clapham Road late on Tuesday evening, prompting emergency services to declare a significant incident.

The Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service, and London Fire Brigade rushed to the scene after reports that a silver car had collided with the rider, trapping the Lime bike beneath its wheels and dragging it along the road.

Eyewitness Account
A witness, who asked not to be named, described the harrowing moment he saw sparks flying as the trapped bike was scraped along the tarmac.
“I had been out socialising when I heard the sound of metal scraping along the road. Then I saw the Lime bike stuck under the car, with the rider being dragged along,” he said.

Emergency Response & Investigation
Multiple fire engines and emergency vehicles flooded the scene as responders worked to assist the injured rider. The individual, whose condition remains unclear, was taken to King’s College Hospital for treatment.
The Metropolitan Police have since launched an investigation, with two crime scenes cordoned off as officers examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

During the initial phase of the response, a secondary collision occurred when a vehicle rear-ended another due to rubbernecking. No serious injuries were reported from this second incident.

Authorities are appealing for witnesses and have urged anyone with dashcam footage or information to come forward.
Further updates are expected as police and emergency services continue their inquiries.
