Brutal Attack on 84-Year-Old
An 84-year-old pensioner suffered serious injuries after being viciously attacked by a suspected XL Bully dog on Bardsley Avenue, Warrington, Cheshire. The terrifying incident unfolded around 6:40pm on Monday when the elderly man was walking past a garden and was suddenly set upon by the large dog that had escaped from a nearby property.
Armed Police Open Fire to End Threat

Chief Constable Issues Stark Warning on XL Bullies
Chief Constable Mark Roberts condemned the attack as “horrific,” describing the elderly victim as simply walking down the street when “he was brutally mauled.” He compared the dogs to loaded firearms with faulty safety catches due to their size and ferocity.
“The sheer size and ferocity of these animals meant our firearms officers had to discharge 19 shots in order to bring the incident to a conclusion and ensure public safety,” Roberts said.
He revealed that Cheshire Police have removed over 100 XL Bullies from the county in efforts to prevent more dangerous attacks.
