British Transport Police have launched an investigation following a report of a sexual assault on board a DLR train earlier this month.
The incident occurred on Monday, 4 March, between 9.15pm and 9.20pm, shortly after a man boarded the train at Shadwell station. It is alleged that the man sat opposite a woman and then sexually assaulted her during the journey.
A member of staff is reported to have assisted the victim, and the suspect later left the train at Limehouse station.
British Transport Police have since released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the investigation. Officers believe he may have information that could assist their enquiries.
A spokesperson for the BTP said:
“We are appealing to the public for help identifying a man who may have information following a reported sexual assault on a DLR train between Shadwell and Limehouse on 4 March.”
Anyone who recognises the man or has information about the incident is urged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 763 of 4 March.
Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
