27 Years On: Detectives Renew Appeal for Information in Donna Keogh Murder Investigation

This weekend marks 27 years since the tragic disappearance of Donna Keogh, a 17-year-old girl last seen in Middlesbrough in 1998. Despite a long-running police investigation, Donna’s body has never been found, and the mystery of what happened to her remains unresolved.

Her family continue to live in agony, still desperate for answers nearly three decades after she vanished.

A Live Murder Investigation

Donna was known to frequent Hartington Road, Aske Road, and Bow Street in Middlesbrough town centre. She disappeared in April 1998, and police believe she came to serious harm. A murder investigation was subsequently launched, but despite thousands of investigative actions and witness statements, the case remains unsolved.

Detective Chief Inspector Chatterton from the Historic Investigation Unit said:

“This is a live investigation. So far, thousands of investigative actions have been carried out and statements gathered, but we still don’t have the answers we need to find Donna or the person responsible for her death.”

“A team of detectives continue trying to piece together what happened to Donna, but we still need help from the public. Somebody out there must know or has heard what’s happened to her.”

Public Urged to Come Forward

DCI Chatterton emphasised that it’s not too late to come forward with information, no matter how small or uncertain the details may be.

“We believe there are people out there with key information which could lead us to Donna’s body and the person who killed her. All information is relevant to us, no matter how irrelevant you may think it is.”

Information can be passed directly to the investigation team by calling 01642 302527, or via the Cleveland Police control room on 101.

Alternatively, tip-offs can be submitted anonymously via CrimeStoppers at 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers.

Dedicated Resources and Community Support

The Find Donna campaign, run in parallel with police efforts, continues to maintain public awareness and seek justice for the teenager. Details of the investigation can also be found on the Cleveland Police website (here) and the Find Donna website (here).

As the 27th anniversary of Donna Keogh’s disappearance passes, investigators and loved ones remain united in their plea: someone knows what happened—and it’s time to break the silence.
