Burglars Break Into Harold Hill Co-op, Police Hunt Two Suspects
Late-Night Raid on Harold Hill Co-op
Police rushed to the Co-op on Farnham Road in Harold Hill just before midnight on Thursday, April 17, following a break-in report. Officers found a large square hole cut into the store’s metal shutter and signs of stolen goods inside.
Crime Scene and Police Investigation Underway
Photos from the scene revealed police tape sealing off the entrance as detectives launched their probe. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed:
“On Thursday (April 17) at 11:55pm, officers were called to Farnham Road, Harold Hill, after a suspected break-in at a retail premises. Damage was caused to the front shutter and items were stolen. Two suspects fled the scene, and enquiries to identify them are ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.”
Community on Edge After Second Co-op Break-In
The Co-op confirmed the burglary happened after closing hours and that the store is now open again. This incident follows a similar raid on another Co-op in nearby Collier Row earlier this month – sparking fears of a string of attacks targeting local convenience stores.
Local residents vented their frustration online, with one commenting, “It’s getting worse around here. These stores are vital for the community, and they keep getting hit.”
