Parents and carers at Pennycross Primary School have been issued a warning about a new and potentially dangerous app called Brand Army, which school officials say is raising serious safeguarding concerns.
In an email sent to families, the school described Brand Army as “the junior equivalent to OnlyFans,” noting that the app allows young people to upload content, despite subscribers being required to be over the age of 18. The school warned that this creates a highly concerning and inappropriate environment for children.
The message, addressed to parents and carers, stated:
“We’ve been made aware of a new app called Brand Army. This has been described as ‘the junior equivalent to OnlyFans.’ This app allows young people to upload content but subscribers have to be 18+, this is obviously very concerning.”
Pennycross Primary School included a link in the communication so parents could see for themselves what the platform looks like, stressing the importance of being vigilant about online safety.
While no specific incidents have been reported at the school in relation to the app, staff said the alert was part of ongoing efforts to educate and protect pupils from online harm.
The warning follows broader national discussions around the safety of user-generated content platforms and the challenges of moderating apps where age-appropriate boundaries can easily be blurred.
Parents are urged to check their children’s devices and monitor app usage, particularly for new or unfamiliar platforms. For concerns relating to online safety or exposure to inappropriate content, parents are encouraged to speak to school safeguarding leads or contact organisations such as the NSPCC.
Pennycross Primary School reiterated its commitment to digital safeguarding and urged families to remain informed and proactive in protecting young users online.
