West Malling man jailed for stalking partner with GPS trackers and spy devices

A jealous control freak from West Malling has been locked up after planting GPS trackers in his partner’s car and hiding a secret listening device in her home. Jimmy Lovelock, 43, was sentenced to 20 months at 1 Crown Court on Friday, 13 June 2025, after admitting to a chilling two-year campaign of abuse and surveillance.

Two Years of Abuse and Tyranny

Lovelock’s victim, who had been with him for nearly 20 years, finally saw justice after years of intimidation. From May 2022 to May 2024, he ruthlessly controlled every aspect of her life. Kent Police revealed he used fear and constant threats to isolate her, even controlling her phone and social media use.

By early 2024, she uncovered the horrifying truth – Lovelock had secretly placed GPS trackers in her vehicle and installed a listening device inside her flat. The investigation also tied him to vandalism, including slashed tyres and a smashed car windscreen, just before he was arrested in May 2024.

Threats of Arson and Murder

Detective Constable Hannah Meehan said: “Lovelock made relentless threats to hurt and kill the victim, including threatening to burn down her flat with her inside. His behaviour was aimed at total domination through fear and control.”

“This custodial sentence gives the victim much-needed space to start rebuilding her life.”

Jail Time and Long-Term Restraining Order

Alongside his 20-month prison sentence – which includes time served on remand – Lovelock was slapped with a 10-year restraining order banning any contact with his victim. Two additional charges, including witness intimidation, were left to lie on file.

Police Warn: Domestic Abuse Victims, Speak Out

Kent Police urges anyone suffering from coercive control or abuse to seek help. “Nobody should feel trapped or powerless,” says DC Meehan. If you or someone you know is being abused, call Kent Police on 101, dial 999 in emergency, or contact the National Domestic Abuse Helpline at 0808 2000 247.
