Tragic Fall at Oasis Wembley Gig Claims Life of Devoted Fan
Family Mourns “Loving Father and Best Friend”
Lee Claydon, 41, a passionate Oasis fan from Bournemouth, died after falling from an upper-tier balcony during the band’s sold-out Wembley Stadium concert on Saturday night. Emergency teams rushed in but sadly could not save him.
The fatal fall happened amid the show’s grand finale, as fireworks exploded following the closing track, Champagne Supernova, with 100,000 fans in attendance.
Heartbreaking Tribute from Family
Lee’s brother, Aaron Claydon, paid a touching tribute on a GoFundMe page set up to support Lee’s partner Amanda and their young son Harry.
“Our world has been shattered by this devastating and unexpected loss,” Aaron said. “Lee was a loving family man and a role model to his son. He was the life and soul of every room — passionate about music, football, fishing, and playing guitar. He was taken far too soon.”
Oasis Bandmates “Shocked and Saddened”
Liam and Noel Gallagher issued a joint statement expressing their shock over the tragedy, sending condolences to Lee’s loved ones.
During Sunday’s gig, Liam dedicated Live Forever “to all the people who can’t be here tonight but who are here if you know what I mean.”
Horrific Scenes Witnessed by Fans
Concertgoers described the fall as “horrendous,” with one initially thinking it was just a dropped coat. Paramedics responded immediately, but the fall was fatal.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident occurred at 10:19pm on 2 August. A spokesperson said, “A man in his 40s was found with injuries consistent with a fall and was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detectives are urgently asking anyone who saw the incident or captured footage to come forward. Contact police on 101 quoting 7985/02AUG.
Concerns Raised Over Alcohol Sales
Ex-Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys, who attended the concert, criticised the amount of alcohol allowed inside Wembley Stadium. “This wouldn’t happen at a football match and shouldn’t happen at a concert,” he said.
A Wembley spokesperson confirmed the incident and said the stadium is cooperating fully with police investigations.

A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to help Amanda and Harry through this heartbreaking time.
