Fatal Collision Rocks Local Waters
A horrific boat crash near Tipner on Thursday evening (August 14) left one man dead, another missing, and a third injured.
Emergency teams sprang into action just before 8pm after reports of a rigid-hulled inflatable boat collision.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Police, paramedics, and coastguard crews from Portsmouth and Hill Head were on site in minutes.
- A man in his 60s from Emsworth was pronounced dead at the scene.
- His family has been informed and is receiving specialist support.
- A man in his 50s from West Sussex was hospitalised but has since been discharged.
- Search efforts continue for a man in his 60s from Havant who remains missing.
Ongoing Search and Investigation
Coastguard rescue teams launched from Portsmouth at 8.25pm and Hill Head at 8.36pm. A helicopter was also spotted near Queen Alexandra Hospital.
“We are liaising with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) during the early stages of an investigation to establish what has happened,” said a Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson.
The MAIB has been contacted for further details as the community reels from the tragedy.
