Nottingham Night Brawl Ends With Six Men in Custody and Three Officers Injured

Brawl Erupts on Talbot Street

A routine patrol by Nottingham Response officers took a violent turn in the early hours of Friday, 30 December. Officers spotted a tense standoff between two groups on Talbot Street. They stepped in to separate the crowds but initially made no arrests as no offences had occurred—yet.

Fight Breaks Out, Cops Attacked

Moments later, a full-on fight exploded. Officers acted fast to break it up, arresting six men on the spot. In the chaos, three police officers were assaulted. One suffered a facial injury after being clawed, another was shoved in the face, and a third was kicked.

Suspects and Charges Revealed

  • An 18-year-old faces charges of affray and assaulting an emergency worker.
  • A 19-year-old was arrested for affray, possession of a class B drug, and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.
  • Another 19-year-old was held on suspicion of affray and possession of a class A drug.
  • A 20-year-old was detained for affray.

CCTV footage helped police identify two of the original six suspects, who were released without charge.

Police Vow Tough Action

“This was a totally unacceptable incident and officers did well to quickly bring the disorder under control,” said Sergeant Steve Willetts of Nottinghamshire Police. “We’re frustrated that officers were assaulted while protecting the public. This violence and drug activity will not be tolerated. We will take robust action against those responsible.”
