The teenager who stabbed a 16-year-old boy to death in Manchester has been named for the first time after turning 18.
L’Vaion Peniston, now 18, was just 14 when he fatally stabbed Kennie Carter in Stretford in January 2022.
He was later found lying in the street, where members of the public tried in vain to save his life.
Others Convicted
Three other teenagers were convicted of manslaughter during the same trial.
- Latif Ferguson, then 18, received five years’ detention.
- Boy G and Boy H, who could not be named at the time, were each sentenced to four years’ detention.
- Six others were acquitted of both murder and manslaughter.
Jurors heard that Kennie’s friends had been involved in an altercation with rivals connected to the defendants, before Peniston produced a knife.
CCTV footage later showed Peniston re-enacting the stabbing just minutes after the killing.
Community Impact
Kennie Carter’s death was one of several fatal stabbings in Greater Manchester in recent years, highlighting the ongoing toll of youth violence and knife crime.
