Fire Rips through Flat above Portsmouth Chip Shop One Person Hurt

A major blaze has shut down The Hard this evening. Emergency services rushed to the scene just before 8pm after a fire is believed to have started above the Britannia Chip Shop. Seven fire appliances are now on scene along with three paramedics and several police units. All roads around The Hard have been closed and police are asking people to avoid the area. One Person has been rescued by Hampshire Fire and rescue service and is currently being assessed by Paramedics from South Central ambulance. Fire crews from Southsea,Cosham,Havant,Fareham and Portchester. We understand that the fire broke out just after 7.45pm this evening. Approx 40 fire firefighters are tackling the blaze and an aerial ladder has also been brought in to check the roof of properties above the fish and chip shop Customers from nearby pubs the Ship Anson and The Invincible are standing in the street watching the drama unfold they have now been moved to a safe distance from the incident.
